Belluno is the ideal stopover for travellers venturing towards the striking summits of the Dolomites or to relax after an excursion.
The town, submerged by trees and gardens, welcomes visitors with a historic town centre adorned with several mansions dating to the period from 1300 to 1699, churches decorated with works of art, views of the Dolomite chain of Mount Schiara (2565m.alt.) with its distinctive Gusela del Vescovà and the imposing Mount Serva (2133m.alt).
The are also several cultural events organized in town as well as a rich theatre season.
Belluno has a lot of sports facilities including a swimming pool, a stadium, a sports centre and, only few kilometres away on the Nevegal Alps there is a skiing district with ski slopes of varying difficulties as well as slopes for alpine ski and a cross-country skiing.
The town is linked to the main mountain tracks and the Dolomites National Park by a daily public transport service.
